Task fields

This page lists every field a task can have, what it holds, and which list feature controls it. Hule has no custom fields: a task can have only the fields below, and each list chooses which of the optional ones its tasks show.

Always-on fields

These fields can't be turned off.

Optional fields and sections

A list turns these on or off in its Configure → Features (Turn features on or off), or in the Features step when you create the list.

Configure needs Edit access

Configure is in the list's menu only if you have Edit access to the list; see Permissions and access.

Which features a new list has depends on how it was made:

Turned off: hidden, not deleted

Turning a feature off hides it from the list's tasks and views but keeps the data: turn it back on and the values return. Some features keep working while hidden:

Feature offWhat still happens
Start DateTimeline and Calendar views still use the start dates
RepeatsSeries already set up keep creating tasks
WatchersCurrent watchers are still notified
Task NumberKeys are still issued, only hidden. A list without a task series issues none
Story PointsScrum Poker skips the list's tasks
ActivityChanges are still recorded

For example, switch Repeats off on a list with a weekly task: the Repeats field leaves the task card, and next week's task still arrives. Stop the series itself in Pause, skip or stop a series.

Feature presets

The Features pane offers three ready-made sets. A preset replaces the whole set at once; after that you can switch single features on or off.

PresetFeatures onGuide
Simple listStart Date, Priority, Tags, Task Number, Relations, Comments, SubtasksTurn features on or off
TeamworkEverything except Repeats and Story PointsTurn features on or off
ScrumAll 14 featuresTurn features on or off

For example, picking Teamwork on a list that uses Repeats turns Repeats off.

Field layout in the task card

Configure → Fields sets where nine fields sit in the task card:

  • Status, Assignee, Date;
  • Repeats, Priority, Time tracking;
  • Story points, Tags, Watchers.

Drag a field to move it, or drag its bottom-right corner to stretch it; Reset layout restores the default. The layout is the same for every task in the list, and a field turned off in Features shows there as Turned off in Features.
