# Create tasks from Claude

This recipe is for anyone who already works through meeting notes, specs or long chats with
Claude. Instead of copying action items into Hule by hand, you ask
Claude to create the tasks, and they land in your lists with
[assignees](/guides/assign-and-watch-tasks#assign-a-task) and dates. Claude talks
to Hule over [MCP](/concepts/ai-and-mcp).

You need a Hule account and one of claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code. Claude only sees
what [your account can see](/reference/permissions-and-access).

::: warning Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may have to add the connector; see
[Connect an AI agent](/guides/connect-an-ai-agent#connect-claude-ai-or-claude-desktop).
:::

## Result: Claude files your action items

With Claude connected, a request like this works:

```text
Here are the notes from today's planning call. Create a task in Product / Roadmap for every
action item, assign each one to the person named, and set the due dates mentioned.
```

Claude reads your lists and members, creates the tasks, and answers with what it created.

**Example.** From these notes:

```text
Anna: draft the pricing page by Friday
Ben: fix the login timeout (see BT-42)
Decide on the beta date next week
```

Claude can create three tasks in **Product / Roadmap**:

* **Draft the pricing page**, assigned to Anna, due Friday;
* **Fix the login timeout**, assigned to Ben, with a **relates to**
  [relation](/guides/link-related-tasks) to BT-42;
* **Decide on the beta date**, with no assignee or date, because the notes name neither.

## Connecting Claude to Hule

1. In Claude, open **Settings** → **Connectors**
   ([Connect Claude.ai or Claude Desktop](/guides/connect-an-ai-agent#connect-claude-ai-or-claude-desktop)).
   Your connectors are listed.

2. Click **Add** and choose **Add custom connector**.
   A dialog asks for the connector's name and URL.

3. Name it **Hule**, paste the address below, and click **Add**:

   ```text
   https://mcp.hule-do.com/mcp
   ```

   Claude opens Hule in your browser; sign in if Hule asks. The **Authorize application** page
   opens.

   ::: warning Hule page never opens?
   Click **Connect** next to Hule in Claude's connector list. If that doesn't help, remove the
   connector and add it again with the exact address, ending in `/mcp`.
   :::

4. Check that **You will be sent back to** shows Claude's own site, and click **Allow access**,
   only if you started the connection yourself.
   The browser returns to Claude, and the Hule connector is on.

5. Ask Claude which lists it can see
   ([Test prompts to try](/guides/connect-an-ai-agent#test-prompts-to-try)):

   ```text
   Which Hule lists can you see?
   ```

   Claude lists your workspaces' lists with their folders.

In Claude Code, run this instead of steps 1–4
([Connect Claude Code](/guides/connect-an-ai-agent#connect-claude-code)):

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http hule https://mcp.hule-do.com/mcp
```

Then run `/mcp` in Claude Code, choose **hule** and authenticate: the browser opens the same
**Authorize application** page.

## Daily requests to Claude

A good request names three things:

* the list;

* what makes one task;

* which fields to fill.

* **From meeting notes.** Paste the notes and ask for one task per action item, with the
  assignee and due date if the notes name them, and the discussion context in each task's
  [description](/guides/write-a-task-description).

* **From a document.** Share a spec and ask Claude to break it into a parent task with
  [subtasks](/guides/break-down-with-subtasks), one per deliverable, in the right list.

* **Loose tasks.** Tell Claude once per conversation which list takes tasks without an obvious
  place, for example your [Inbox list](/guides/capture-to-inbox).

* **Keep the loop closed.** Later in the same conversation, ask things like:

  ```text
  What is overdue in Product / Roadmap?
  ```

  ```text
  Mark BT-42 done and add a comment that the fix shipped.
  ```

  Claude can do more than create tasks:

  * [search](/guides/find-anything) and read them;
  * [comment](/guides/comment-and-mention) on and update them;
  * [log time](/guides/track-time);
  * [link related tasks](/guides/link-related-tasks).

## Failed requests and fixes

* **Claude says it can't find the list.** It only sees lists you have access to. Check the exact
  name in Hule's sidebar, or ask Claude to list what it can see; see
  [Share a folder or a list](/guides/share-a-folder-or-list).
* **Tasks are assigned to the wrong person.** Names can be ambiguous. Ask Claude to show the
  workspace members first and confirm who is who; see
  [Assign a task](/guides/assign-and-watch-tasks#assign-a-task).
* **Claude reports "Daily limit reached".** You have created 1,000 tasks in this workspace today,
  counting tasks from the app and the API. Create the rest after midnight UTC; see
  [Limits](/reference/limits#daily-limits).
* **Claude still changes tasks after you stopped using it.** Disconnect it in **User settings** →
  **API tokens**; its access ends at once. See
  [Disconnect an agent](/guides/connect-an-ai-agent#disconnect-an-agent).

## Variations: daily plan, other AI tools

* **A daily plan.** Each morning, ask Claude to list what is due today across your workspaces
  and suggest an order.
* **Other AI tools.** Other MCP clients connect with the same URL if they support remote servers
  with a browser (OAuth) sign-in; see
  [Connect another MCP client](/guides/connect-an-ai-agent#connect-another-mcp-client).
